Desktop Settings

In Sonoma, you can click on the desktop to reveal it by minimizing open windows.

Disable this by going to:

System Settings > Desktop & Dock 

Set Click wallpaper to reveal desktop to Only in Stage Manager.

Disable Show items on desktop and turn off widgets.
